Cancelled train

I am due to travel back to cardiff today but most of the trains are cancelled including the one I was supposed to be getting (which I booked way before the

I need to know my rights. On the national rail site, it says that I can use any service with my advance ticket as long as it's ending up at cardiff. Does this mean that I can use the ticket to go from Stockport - Birmingham. Birmingham - Bristol. Bristol - Cardiff using another operator even though it just says Stockport - Cardiff or is that just my reservation ticket and the Northwich - Cardiff ticket is the proper one?

I'm really confused by it all. Normally don't travel on the train but due to being in uni in Cardiff, there is no real option but to use them.

It depends what arrangements the train operator has made to cover the situation:

Easements will be in place throughout Sunday 7 November for all ticket holders travelling on Arriva Trains Wales services to allow travel on any train and reasonable route on the day.
Customers who have purchased their tickets before Sunday 7 November may travel on either Saturday 6 November or Monday 8 November.

Maybe you'd already found that. I'd interpret it as saying yes you can. Stockport Cardiff is your seat reservation, Northwich Cardiff is your travel ticket

    EDIT

Trains from Crewe to Cardiff via Shrewsbury appear to be running normally - I'm not confident you would be allowed via Birmingham given there are plenty of trains from Stockport to Crewe - just not Arriva ones
