Hi,
This is part of a long story but our builder told us we would be out of a toile for 3-4 days, 1 week max. We were happy to move out into my partners sisters house for this time. However, things went very wrong and we are now taking him to small claims court over breach of contract (we have paid him for work he has not done and is now refusing to do since we send him a letter saying we were doing to take him to court).
With regards to the toilet, we are not having a friend of the family fit it for us as a temporary measure so we can move back home. What is the laws etc on builders leaving you without a toilet (to make things worse we have also been left with no inside water and no kitchen what so ever).
On another note we have been advised to get 3 quotes for the incomplete work from builders so we know what we are claiming back from the builder. Can we go ahead and do the work ourselves on the cheap (help from family/friends etc) or do we have to get a professional builder/company complete to work so we have actual receipts of what it costs?
Thank you

How can he leave you without a toilet if you are not living there?
I also suspect there is a lot more to this than you are posting. Not Again0 -
there are no "laws" as such. for water or toilet or any other matter.
breach of contract is another matter entirely.
ps
99% of the time, there is no reason to be without a working toilet for more than a day.Get some gorm.0 -
Yes, a lot more to the story. We agreed to move out for 1 week max. It's been 5 weeks. The other thing is that as the house was not secured properly (they did not fit the back door in securely and left a new window opening totally exposed) my partner has been having to stay here at night.0
