I have just bought from Tescos an Acer Aspir 5740 with an i3 330 processor 2.13ghz with 3gb RAM , windows 7 64bit ,320gb hard drive for £379 is it a good buy, I havent opened the box yet so i can still return it if it isnt

Yes sounds like good value. You won't nomally get an I3 laptop that cheap. Lenovo were doing £100 cashback but the upfront cost my son paid for his was ~ £450 - he needed Windos Pro though and most come with Home so I'm not sure of the price of those0
