havent a clue where to start-im trying to find a savings account where you can get your money out whenever you want but you dont need to have a massive balance in there, and who pays the most interest, and where you dont need to put a fortune in each month- im totally new to this and havent a clue where to start??
Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.

Are your total savings likely to get above £3,000 in any one year?
If not, then you could benefit, assuming you are a taxpayer, from using an ISA which is tax free - although you wouldn't be able to deposit more than £3K in any tax year, regardless of how much you withdraw.
Is it important to have a branch account or would you be happy to operate it via the internet with a link between it and your existing current account?0 -
its for my parents . all i know is they want a normal savings account (branch based) with a big amount of interest (higher than lloyds) were looking at the alliance and leics one 12% for the first year but there isnt an alliance by us so thats out of the question..they wont be using online banking. they have other things like isas and peps, this is just a savings account they want.Fr. That's helpful. Give me a location.
The top rate regular saver accounts (like the A&L 12% tend not to match your initial criteria of easy access and high flexibility).0 -
by them they have lloyds (who they are with), barclays, halifax, nationwide, woolwich hsbc so it would have to be one of thoseFr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0

Well the Lloyds 2 Year Regular Saver @ 8% is one of my favourites for top returns & they would be eligible.
Otherwise, from the choice you gave me the best looks to be 3.75% with the guaranteed saver a/c at the Halifax.
If they are existing members of Halifax or West Brom BS they can do better.
But there is a chasm between internet rates and branch rates. Many older, more traditional savers must be losing out
