Just got one of those cheap PC world laptops and trying to connect it to my AOL wireless system.
It finds my network fine with a really strong signal.
It then says it is acquiring network address
it then comes up with an error message
This connection has limited or no connectivity
"This problem has occured because the network did not assing a network address to the computer"
Any ideas???
Thanks

What is the make and model of your router? Disable wireless security and enable Broadcast of SSID on it for the time being. This sort of problem is easier to fix if all security is disabled initially; we can turn on security later.
Having done that, right-click the wireless icon in system tray (if shown there) and click Available Wireless Networks.0 -
have you setup encryption yet, and told your laptop the key?

The router is Netgear DG834G v3
I have set up the encrytion key and that seems to be ok
I have done the firewall but not sure what you mean about SIDD0 -
the ssid is the name for your routers network, the default is netgear.
If you really are connecting to your router, double check that your PC encryption key matches the one you have set on the router
(I'm assuming that you haven't done anything with mac address filtering, which could also produce the same symptoms).Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
It definitely matches but then says limited or no connectivity0

Are you using wep/wpa?
Did you go to 192.168.0.1 to configure it?
How did you tell your PC the password?
posting the results of ipconfig /all >C:\1.txt
notepad c:\1.txt
