Boots Refund Query

Hi,

Yesterday I bought some items and spent £100, as they have a 'get 1000 extra points for every £50 you spend' I recieved 2000 points. Which is great. However, one of the items was a £65 toothbrush, which was for my boyfriend's sister.. but she saw it when we got back last night and (in my opinion) ungratfully informed us that this isn't the one she wanted as she wants the newest one which is £80.

So we are going back in store today and I wondered, if I return the toothbrush will they take ALL the points I earned back (i.e. all 2000) or not? Because if that is the case I would be better off returning everything and re-buying the items I need with a few more xmas gifts to get some of the points again at least... as I am not buying the £80 toothbrush because the one we got was more than we would usually spend on her.

Hope this makes sense and hope someone can help,
Thanks

If you just brought the toothbrush back on its own you would loose your 2000 points as you would technically not meet the minimum of £50 spend for even 1000 threshold criteria. Depending on what else you bought and what else you are intending to buy I agree it may be easier to return the whole lot and start again. For example, if you have spent £100 and get and £65 refund you will loose the 2000 points. If you spend another £40 on new gifts I don't think they will not consider your "other" £35 spend you have already spent, so you would not trigger the extra points deal. That said, they may work it all out for you but you may end up getting confused and I am sure so will the SA. To keep life simple and make sure you don't miss out on points I would return it all and start again.

Just to add, if you are planning on spending £100 again in total and your items are in stock on line, there is a code for an extra 1000 points on a £100 spend, so you may be able to get £30 back in points in total plus free delivery and a little extra cashback through quidco (if you are a member). Of course only helps if they have in stock what you need.

Do they normally take the points back ?
What if you've already spent the points when you return the item ?
    Have lots more ‘Pending’
    But total money I’ve received from Cashback Sites by performing 'Daily Clicks' is ;
    APRIL 2007 - JAN 2008 = £2,800:money:

  • I dont think they will take the points back...... just the points for a £65 spent normally i think!! but not really sure .. :) sorry :(
But what a !!!!!!! brat, i'd of lobbed it at her head to be honest :)

You would lose your 2000 points because you have not met the £100.You would only get your points for the £35.If you exchange it for £65 in other goods it would just be classed as an exchange therefore you would keep your points.
Katie1967 if you have already spent your points it will take them off again as soon has you have points back on your card. Also this Thursday there is a shopping night at some stores where you will get 1200 points for every £50 spent.

I'd just give her the brush and tell her to like it, or use it to clean something else less savory!

  • I ordered some Fitflop boots during the Christmas event. They didn't fit so I took them back to Boots before my points had been added to my account. I received a refund and only the actual points earned were deducted (540) from my card. When I went to the Advantage Card machine, the 4000 bonus points were then added to my account. I've checked my account online, the extra points are still there and there are no returns listed - will these show up later? Does anyone know how long it take for returns to show on your account online?
    Thanks in advance.
  • i have never lost the 'bonus' points for a spent that i have returned!
