Van Insurance differant classes

Hi

Just trying to get a decent Van insurance quote. The biggest influence on the price the "Van Use" i.e Carriage of own goods, Carriage of Goods for Hire & Reward etc. The price trebles.

If i am transporting my own goods (Jam and Chutney) to be sold or possibly sold (market trader) would the Carriage of own goods be acceptable?

Am i right in assuming that the difference between the two types of use is that the goods in the back would be insured with one type but not the other. So if the goods are insured already i could go for the cheaper option?

Neither use covers the goods carried in/on the vehicle themselves. For that you require Goods In Transit insurance.

Own goods use means that you are carrying your own goods - i.e. you are not carrying goods brlonging to others for hire or reward.

Dazsnsaz if your selling at a market they will normally insist you have Public Liability Cover* the cheapest place to buy this is normally one of the market traders associations .

* Public Liability Covers you for damage to property of injuries that you are legally liable for eg a member of the public trips over your cable, you should also look for a policy that includes Product Liability which is as above but includes claims caused by products eg a customer gets food poisoning.
