Erm....
first & foremost, not everyone is getting £20k housing benefit.
secondly, what is this "rest on top" stuff they're getting? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I have worked for pocket money since I was 13. I started full time work at 16 - and paid tax and n.i. at that age. can't remember my wage, but I was working in a newsagents, so not much. I'm now 52, I have 3 o levels - never used, and I have had (through choice - only 1 redundancy) probably 30+ jobs. The jobs are there, I don't care where you live - I live in a place known as 'dole on sea'. I've had long periods of contract work and self employment. Some of my wages have been just about what I'd get on the dole. I used to stand in a shop - yes, stand all day, while other people 'could not find work'.
I used to have a promotional business - back in the 80's - I paid £80 for a 9 hour day. Could I get workers? could I !!!!!! The same people would work their socks off for me so that we could keep the contracts and employ ourselves.
I object. I don't care if people find the work demeaning after what they are used to - if there is work for them to do, they should be doing it - if you are unemployed you should be turning up every day to be given work to do. Dole is not a right - someone is providing that money for you. (disability well, that's a more complicated matter)
I'm waiting for the plumber right now. He'll come today if at all possible - I've been waiting a week. In december, if I am lucky the decorator is coming he's going flat out at the moment, but i'm on the list. Taxi on saturday? 30 minute wait. odd job man? you're having a laugh... got to go - I'm working from home now, and need to get back to it. I'll be posting the tax office a little on account forJanuary...0 -
dont want to burst your bubble but people need real jobs! with real pay! no good working if your rent ,food bill, etc is more than most employers are willing to pay, and to be honest they are all in this game lets get rich together"why do you think nearly all jobs across uk and usa are extremely low paid there is only a small percentage of people who can afford to go to work on a defecit .
People slagging off all the unemployed as lazy brstrds need to have a word with themselves as one day they could be in the same boat its no good living in fairy land saying i would do anything as there are 8 people in front of you and 8 at the back also willing to do the same.
in my 40s and been out of work 2yrs for the first time ever "guess its all my fault" cant wait to start new deal that will get me motivated.0 -

I think the workhouses are still waiting on planning permission as they have yet to satisfy the Social Inclusion Officers that they will encourage diversity and demonstrate a positive role in promoting the equality of all forms of sexuality within the forced-working environment.
There was something on the BBC website about it a couple of months back. I'm quite surprised you missed it.0
