£55-£60 + vat0

Does that mean I have saved £60 x 17 = £1,020?
Or does it mean you are lucky not to have been poisoned by CO and paid more each year in gas bills for inefficient running?

IIRC correct, Scottish Power and good old BG include an annual service in one of the boiler insurance schemes for about £12 per month0 -
We have just taken out boiler cover, £99 for service and repair(still in progress) and £20 a month after that for servicing every year and repairs with British Gas.0

Hmmm! What boiler do you have? If it is a modern one, I doubt very much it will get an annual service, just a safety inspection with an FGA up the spout!
I also notice that BG customers I know, tend to get 'an inspection' every 13 months instead of 12.
Could it be possible that BG do this to make extra profit?0 -

To enable us to have an informed discussion perhaps you could tell us what a boiler service involves?
Are there any serviceable parts that get changed on a time/hours basis?
Are there any adjustable components that could affect running or are they all set & sealed at the factory?0 -
It's like a car service - check, clean, adjust and replace parts as necessary. Parts are chargeable0

I live in M/cr and charge £65. Any parts (if needed) are chargeable extra's. The average price from the gas fitters I know are in the region of £55 - £80. Make sure you get a printout of the Flue gas analyser report, and a service checksheet to show what has been done.0
