Leak in footwell, soggy carpet - help!

But not good if you knock it over.
If its only in there when your car is parked then that's not an issue - especially as the condensation tends to form over night when the temperatures plummet. I actually have a permanent bowl of salt in the boot of my car and it's never tipped over because I use a flat bottomed plastic one.0 -
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to have a look today - I'll open up the bonnet and look for any obvious signs of leaks or rust, and I'll make sure there aren't leaves piled up anywhere. Unfortunately my car is parked in a place where it gets covered in leaves at this time of the year, but no room to put it in the garage.
I'm not comfortable with taking anything apart but my OH's step dad is really car savvy and I might give him a call. Will definitely take the mats out and see what I can do about the yucky mould.0 -
One other thing I never thought of before, you do what I said and remove the carpets. If you then sprinkle the floor with talcum powder, before it rains, you will get little rivers through the talc showing you where the water has come in. Genius!0

Does your Fiesta have a pollen filter? Our Focus developed a leak into the passenger footwell, it turned out the pollen filter seal had disintegrated. Hubby replaced it and all was good.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Being a Fiesta the chances of the floor being a damp pile of rust is quite likely.0

Can't offer any helpful advice but I thought I'd let you know that this appears to be a common problem with fiestas. Last year, I spent an afternoon reading reviews on what car for fiestas and suzuki swifts as I was trying to decide between the two, and this appeared to be the most commonly reported problem with fiestas. The swifts common problem was a more serious matter with the gearbox, so I decided to go with a fiesta

The 107 peugeots/C1/Aygo had this problem as well. they put a second seal above the original one. Looks odd and did not cure the problem, its due to go back some time.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

If it is a Ghia then it may have a sunroof, check the drain for the sunroof, they may have blocked. the most common cause of wet footwells in normally well above the floor.
As suggested check under the bonnet and remove any leave and rubbish you find below the windscreen, door seals don't tend to let much water in, thoguh if there is a lot of wind noise it is a possibility.
Check the rear carpets unless the water is coming in from the boot, due top the angle of the boot a dodgy seal can let water into the boot.
At the end of the day it is an old Fiesta, they weren't that water tight when new and 13 years of use isn't going to make them better.
As suggested it could be a leak from the heater box, not sure if your age Fiesta had a pollen filter, you need to get under the dash whilst a mate washes the car down with a pressure washer.0 -
How is the rear window washer working?
during cold weather the water in the washer lines can freeze, expand, and pop off one of the joints.
These are usually located behind the carpet and can be a simple fix0
