Who does the best offers on the VW Polo in the motability category? So many dealers around. Dont know who to choose.
Also Do we have to pay VAT for this services or is it VAT exempt?
Is there any cashback/quidco with motability?
thanks,

There is usually one rate through the mobility no matter which Garage you use. Mobility should have sent you a book, with the prices of every make of car that you can get on the mobility scheme. It depends on the model you choose, as too how much you pay, ie some makes of cars there is no upfront deposit, and you might still recieve some of your mobility allowance.
Other cars you may have to pay a few thousand deposit and have to give all of your mobility allowance.
You can not get a mobility car through cashback or quidco. It is only done through a Mobility approved Garage.
YES VAT is payable through the mobility scheme.
The only way you can get VAT back is if you pay cash for a brand new car from the Garage showroom, then you have to claim the VAT back yourselves. You can not do this on a second hand car.0 -
A local ford dealership near us is offering £100 cashback on new motability deals,as for quidco i very much doubt it0

If you are getting a new car through the mobility scheme YOU CAN NOT claim back the VAT because the car does not belong to you, it belongs to the Mobility scheme. Mobility claims back the VAT forthem selves because they own the car.
All you are doing is leasing the car from Mobility, for three or maybe four years. You will never own the car your name is not even on the log book.
The only way you can get the VAT back is to pay cash for a brand new car, (I dont think that you can do this on finance, but someone might correct me) once you have the car then you apply to the VAT centre for the VAT back. it is only them that can refund it, not the garage.0 -
I ordered my new VW Polo only last week on Motability scheme. Having test driven quite a few small automatic I found the Polo to be far superior than the Fiesta/Corsa etc both in build quality and styling.
Due to my disability I need an automatic, so chose the 1.4 petrol in SEL trim with the automatic DSG box in Nimbus Grey. As the car is no deposit with fixed payments I could hardly haggle for any money off, however the dealer has thrown in a couple of things such as the Comfort Pack, car mats and a full tank of petrol. The only downside is it will be about 4 months until delivery, but as I can keep my current Citroen until then it is not really a problem.
if you can get an extended test drive in one (I got one for a weekend to try out) it is well worth it.0 -

When you buy a car you buy it VAT free, it's already deducted from the price, so you don't have to claim it back. You just sign the form to state you're VAT exempt.
But the car has to have been bought already adapted or it isn't VAT exempt and the buyer has to be a permeant wheelchair user.
It can be bought on finance, but it would have to be via a personal loan and not car finance, because the finance company would own the car until the final payment and they can't claim the VAT back.0 -

I understood it has to be adapted for your disability, not that you had to be a wheelchair user.0 -

No, you have to be a wheelchair user
From DirectGov web site:
Motor vehicles for disabled people
If you're disabled, you may not have to pay VAT on having a vehicle adapted to suit your condition, or on the lease of a Motability vehicle.
If you're a disabled wheelchair or stretcher user, you may not have to pay VAT if you buy a specially adapted vehicle for your personal or domestic use.
Not every vehicle or adaptation will qualify for the relief. There are also strict definitions for terms like 'wheelchair user' that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) use to decide who can get the relief.
Your supplier will be able to advise you on a vehicle or adaptation that qualifies for the relief. They'll also give you a declaration to fill in and sign, which you'll have to give back to them for their records.

I have bought 4 new cars and you have to be a wheelchair user and the car must be adapted for you before delivery, the previous poster gives you a link and brief discription of the rules.0
