aol wouldn't let me cancel!!

I pay aol £3 a month because i wanted keep my email, but have my broadband elsewhere, but as they now do email addresses for free i rang up to cancel as why should i pay for others get for free.
would the person cancel... no.
she came up with every reason not to cancel till i lost the will to live and gave up.she just wouldn't listen and talked over me all the time
will try again tomorrow!!

just tell them straight. Be strong, tell her/him to "shut up and listen" if they keep being rude and talking over you.When things in life start to weigh heavy on your shoulders, and people all around are having a go, just smile and think.......Fxxk em!0

it would appear that you can have a free aol email address, but you can't cancel and take your address with you. And as they keep email addresses active for 6 months after you cancel 'in case you change your mind' so you can't cancel and get the same address for free0 -
I'd phone them once more & tell them your recording the conversation, if your met with the same problem again & tell them you will be going to OFCOM, which might not be a bad idea, as I gather you are entitled to keep your e-mail, if I remember rightly I read Ofcom made this ruling although some ISP's flaunt it.
I'm with AOL myself, but they really need to stop, behaving like a Cult when you wish to leave.0 -
