endsleigh are driving me crackers!

Ugh. A little vent about endsleigh.

My contents insurance expired on 21.10.10. I was moving house on 2.11.10, so was umming and ahhing about what to do inbetween.

Rang Endsleigh to ask if I renewed could I change address once I moved. Yes they said. And there would be no charge I said? No charge said Endsleigh.

I asked again, because otherwise I would have just waited the ten days or so and started a new policy for new property. No, said Endsleigh, just give us a call and we'll change it over.

Of course called up to change it over, happy to pay the extra £20 for the new property (its a bit older than the list), but not happy to pay the £20 admin charge they say I now need to pay.

I'm trapped, because to cancel there is a £50 charge, and at the moment they won't waive the admin fee to change my address.

Sods law if I hadn't renewed something would have gone wrong, but at the moment not yet insured in my new property.

They added me to a call back service, called me back an hour or so later, put me on hold, then out me through to someone who told me that there was no one to speak to me and someone would call me back by half three. They just called me back now, said oh yes what we can do is we'll just cancel your last policy, no charge, then put you through to new business who will just start a new policy for 12 months as if you were a new customer.

Great I thought.
Except new business said oh no we can't do that, who said we could do that?

I've been with them for 8 years and they've always been fine, and now they appear to have gone crackers.

Thing is if I had been told I would have to pay admin fee of £20 I wouldn't have bothered renewing, just started a new policy for new address.

I feel very tired at the moment!

    Endsleigh,

been here since March and you don't seem to have permission to post as a representative of your company.
  • OP - I'm sure the calls will have been recorded and so insist that they listen to the conversation you had with their representative. Good luck...

Just a quick update after my very boring rant above...after 5 more very frustrating phonecalls where at one point I'm ashamed to say things got a it heated my end, I fnially had a call back from someone who knew what they were doing and confirmed that yes I could change address without a fee.

Job done and it only took 10 hours!
