Upgrade Lloyds TSB Cash Account

Good evening folks,

Does anyone have any experience of upgrading a Lloyds Cash account to a 'normal' current account? I had to get a basic account last year but I'm now in a (much) better position and have recently obtained a Barclaycard and mobile contract; thinking things are on the up I've made an appointment to try to upgrade my account.

I deposit my wages (between £1450 - £2000 monthly) in the account and my direct debits for mobile; landline; gas; electric; Council Tax; rent come out.

Question: should the above help if they only use internal procedures to see if I fit their criteria? I fear I would still fail a C/A credit assessment and I'm not on the electoral roll (trying to rectify).

Many thanks in advance.

MF

As long as there has been no problems running your account, you should be fine. To be honest if you weren't eligible they probably wouldn't have made you an appointment.

However, The 'system' will run an external credit score, so without seeing your credit report I can't really tell your chances. But if you have recently got credit you may be ok.

(I work for Lloyds tsb, but this is in NO way official advise)

  • Thanks for that; I'll let you know how things go on Monday.

I've just found out that my credit union will be offering a current account with a 'proper' VISA debit card in Nov/Dec so I'll be able to get that, thankfully.
  • Is whatever reason you had to open a cash account now resolved?
That is any defaults, late payments etc all up to date and no judgements against you - you have a chance.
It would be better if you went on the Electoral role.
If your credit file is still showing adverse information you won't get the upgrade.
