The photos on the profiles page was just something I was trying out last night, I'm not sticking with that, I'm going to put a photo under each name.If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

Search engines can see ALT text on images, I can't believe I've been so dumb as not to have put alt text on the buttons, I hadn't realised. JACKASS!!!!!If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

Hi Gordon
You need more than alt text on the nav buttons. There have got to be text links to all the pages so that search engines can actually visit them.0 -
Jus come across this thread, but agree with Martin on a few points.
The W3C logos and the FF logo are out of place, and just take extra time to download. Does the average punter care if your website is W3C compliant for XHTML 3.0 or made with CSS? Would most of them understand what you're talking about?
The gigs/dates issue. No-one cares where you've been. Where are you going next? That's the only important question. Agree with the year being displayed. May seem like a minor point, but it's important when listing gigs.
Why is there no forum? They're easy to set up, and important for feedback. If the punters don't like it....how do they tell the band. You're only as good as the last gig, and if you need to change it, you need input from the fans.
Links to current songs are important also. If I came across the website, liked the look of the band, but had no idea what type of music they played....I wouldn't go to see them, I wouldn't book them, and I'd think they weren't committed enough to promote themselves, thereby implying that perhaps they weren't really interested in being a band.
Current design is OK apart from that. Nice, unfussy, and quick loading. I realise you are only designing the site itself, not the content. I would have a chat with the band about how they want to promote themselves though.
Failing to update current gigs seems lazy and sloppy. Sure. list old gigs, but make them a link to photos and feedback from that gig. How long does it take to update the gig page? Couple of minutes a day would make a huge difference.
HTH..... I'm not here to pick over silly mistakes...just give an idea of what may help. Have a look at www.fastfude.com to see the sort of feedback (no punches pulled!) bands in N.I. get. May help Defined to decide if they want to go down that route.0 -
Dave the band member, in the profiles page, kinda looks like he's takin a dump - not the best shot of the lad I'm sure.0
