Basically Ive had all kinds of problems trying to switch my supply from British Gas to Swalec when I moved into a new property. Everything has now been taken over by Swalec however the serial number Swalec have been given by British Gas are incorrect (there is no number on my meter).
Basically Swalec keep telling me my electricity meter is a prepayment meter (it isnt) and I keep trying to tell them otherwise but they refuse to listen. Obviously if they don't want to take payment for my electricity bills then fine, but I don't want to suddenly be faced with a huge bill when they finally realise the mistake.
I know why this problem has occurred (which I have explained to Swalec on numerous occasions) basically the previous tenant did not pay her bills, and British Gas were going to install a pre-payment meter as a result, after she was evicted from the property the landlord settled things with British Gas and a prepayment meter was never installed, but Swalec now believe it has been.

It won't be difficult to resolve, even if it means they decide to send an engineer out to verify your claims.
If you don't resolve this, you will be billed at the PPM rate - typically similar to the (expensive) standard rate and won't be able to take advantage of the cheaper rates you could have with a credit meter.
What serial number did the final bill you got from BG have on it? The PPM one or the credit meter one?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

This is the problem I haven't received a final bill for British Gas, I assume similarly because they think my meter is pre-payment too...
I phoned B/G around a month ago to get the serial number they held and to double check it with Swalec, and Swalec said that number was for a pre-payment meter.
Obviously Im quiet concerned because I moved in, in August and as of yet I've not paid a thing for my electric -which from what I calculated is mounting up a fair bit. Obviously also my gas is now more expensive because I was originally meant to be going on a dual fuel tariff but because Swalec believe my meter to be pre-payment Im being charged full whack for the gas.MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

I think your problems pre-date moving the supply to BG. They appear to be BG problems.
How did you manage to switch supplier without knowing your serial number? Didn't Swalec ask you for that when you applied to switch supplier?"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
