Invalid Boot INI file

Hi
This is my first post on this brill forum and hope someone can help.
I turn on my pc and it attempts to load windows xp, fails and returns to start with the message Invalid Boot INI File. I have read previous advice but they all concern pc`s that can show windows, my pc does not even reach the windows stage.

Any advice thankfully recieved.

Have you tried booting from the windows disk instead of the hard drive?

Xp I assume ??

any xp cd will do , you need to do fixboot form repair console

You're going to need to boot into some kind of OS, otherwise you can't fix the problem. An XP CD would be ideal, as you could follow the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330184

Hiren's Boot CD contains a lot of utilities that should help you restore the boot.ini file without needing the XP CD.
