crown metalic paint , anyone used it ?

has anyone used crown metalic paint , one of my neighbours has just painted a feature wall with it and it looked very patchy / streaky , i've just given it a coat and folowed instructions on tin to the work and it still looks terrible , have come to the conclusion that it's just rubbish paint

I've got a silver wall in this paint and it looks really good. I used a small emulsion roller for application, you need at least 2 coats for a good finish

my brothers a painter and decorator and he rates Crown paint, I think Murphy's right it needs 2 coats, I always think 2 thin coats is better than 1 thick coat.

i'm a painter and decorator- it has now had 4 coats and still looks streaky , it is not the thickness of the paint , which i wouldn't want to thin down any more - it's the application that causes the streaking , apparently you have to finish it off by rolling in one direction but any slight overlap of the roller causes the streaking , i'm hoping that as it's a feature wall in kitchen , once they have units and tiling and splashback above hob you won't see more than 2ft by 10 ft of it

Would using a paint pad instead of roller help?...might give you a bit more control in avoiding overlaps.

Thing that puts me off these sort of textured paints is whether you can obliterate them with other "normal" emulsion when you want to change the look later on without having to line over the top.

i don't think so as it's quite a big wall and i think you'd probably get drying edges

we painted ours son bedroom in benneton silver paint and it was awful to put on and looked awful when dry - we paintpadded it, also put on with roller or brush and despite following their instructions to the letter it still went streaky.

came to the conclusion it was the paint
