Cheap Dehumidifier (merged threads)

Hi,
I have just been onto the Ebac site and on some models (clearance lines) in the write up it speaks of a castor conversion kit. If you can, buy something that already has the castors fitted as standard, as they are quite heavy to move. The ebac my friend purchased needs to be lifted to different locations and as they are quite bulky (and heavy), it is a point which possibly needs consideration depending on circumstances of course.
For DK. I have had no problems at all with my Delonghi appliance (don't want to speak too soon) and I am amazed where all the water comes from. Maybe we go too far with all this double glazing, cavity wall insulation, roof insulation etc., etc., and I too try and keep the house well ventilated, sometimes to no avail. I hope jaype finds what she's looking for quickly as I know it will ease her workload somewhat. Regards - sally0 -
a couple of questions I need to ask. My house is about 30 yrs old and has the upvc glazing on both floors off the house. around this time of year we always gets lots of condensation on the windows, more so on the second floor of the house but there is some downstairs aswell. This in turn is causing black mould on the sides of the windows on the walls and marking the walls. I've tried opening a few select windows in different bedrooms very slightly throughout the night and it didn't seem to make any difference, my thinking that it needed air in the rooms.
someone at work mentioned to get a dehumidifer to suck the water from the air. Anyone got one/use one and do they work. I'm assuming it would have to be one in each room.
also where best to start shopping for one...

Im looking to buy a dehumidifier for the house, Mainly to be used in the bedroom where there is some dampness.
My brother works for a hire company and offered one to me for £40 for the week(usually its £90 ish) but for an extra say £40 im sure i can buy one.
John Lewis in Edinburgh i heard sell them. Can anyone else suggest where to buy one? Or recommend one?0 -
Try Argos, I got one from there earlier in the yearWaddle you do eh?0

Have a look on ebay. They have tons of graded stock (returned, slight repair etc). Most come with short warranties and are usually half the price of anything you can buy in the shops. It takes a tough man to make a tender Chicken :A0

We also got one from Argos last year - small portable and works well!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

For the price band your looking for, and a decent make, the best offer at the moment is the Amcor QT120. I bought a couple last week from Meaco at £94.99 each. Very quiet machine with vent on top to assist with drying clothing. Suitable for 3 bedroom size house and so far seems very efficient to run. Delivered within 3 days by courier, very easy to set up.
