The online energy discount is a discount applied to the bill by the supplier if you abide by the appropriate terms.
The cashback is paid by the comparison site if you are able to and do actually switch via them (using the special MSE links)
You are correct that cashback is only paid once.
I'm not sure why you are comparing/deducting a discount applied by a supplier to applicable customers bills from a cashback amount paid by a comparison site?
I think the title of this thread is misleading and should be changed by the OP.
How have you been conned?
Edit: despite the OP now admitting they have made an error, I see they still haven't changed the misleading thread title."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
How do you know you will not get the online discount? Have you been told this?0
-
This link to the SP website confirms that you will get the £16.80 and the £15.75 discount.
Hardly a con.

re above-{You are correct that cashback is only paid once.}
Could you clarify please .Does this mean once you have had one cash back that's your lot so that when you change again say 12 months for a better deal no cash back from that comparison site0 -

No, what they mean is that you get the cashback when you change but you won't get it again if you then stay there for a further year. You can change suppliers as often as you like and get cashback each time as long as you are moving to a different supplier and not simply staying with the same one.
Thankyou I understand now0 -
Actually, with the cashback from moneysupermarket.comPayments are restricted to one per household"Now to trolling as a concept. .... how i got conned was ....I was excepting £30 cash back....not supermarket .com giving me a special contract (via scottish power) which I lose £15 every year.
To put it simple there are 2 contracts. 1. £30 pound cash back contract which states you do not recieve the £16 online discount.
Second contract, sign up through scottish power independently, ( which is legally a different contract) and you will receive £16 on-line discount every year.
So the conn is 2 different contracts, I was excepting them to be the same.(as you do)
Get in touch with martin he'll sort it out..“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I don't believe that's true. I think you have misunderstood. Anyone know for sure?0

I also think you have misunderstood, the only tariffs/contracts are those published on the suppliers website or via their telephone lines. When you sign up through a cashback or comparison site then you sign up to one of the published tariffs.
They do not have "special" tariffs tailored to individual people or 3rd parties.0
