How much would you spend on firework related events?

I really love fireworks. Have done the having them at home/family's garden thing and also been to displays. I just can't believe that people wouldn't even give a £1 or £2 to watch. The fireworks are paid for by the sponser and the money collected goes to charity I think.
I think you could have a good evening and still do it in DFW style.Making my money go further with MSE :j
How much can I save in 2012 challenge

I wouldn't pay to for a firework display not really bothered about that sort of thing anymore. Very anti fireworks this year as have a young puppy and people setting them off early is really upsetting him and having a bad effect on his toilet training.0

Hi all - dancingfairy, I just wanted to let you know it was confirmed on the radio this morning that the Guildford Lions have had a sponsor come forwards who are going to fund the whole thing so the display is back on!
We go to a display at the school I used to go to and its £1.50 per adult and 50p a child so not too bad really - its always a fab display that lasts at least half an hour so I don't really begrudge that. As its sponsored by a company just down the road you know that all the money is going back to the school too so I feel like I'm supporting a bit of my 'history'!

Hi LJD
I love fireworks too, and we will be going to the rugby club display free of charge. A bit worried about the cats - they don't much like them, so we don't bother at home. I'm a bit annoyed that some people are already letting off bangers as I thought these were now illegal.
My wife will buy a huge selection of sweets for Hallween, but we never give money.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I love a good firework display and we're really lucky to have a fantastic free one in Milton Keynes. The park where it is held has the canal running through it and in the past we'ved cruised our boat to the park with loads of mates on board, hopped out onto the towpath to watch the display then back inside to warm up. Trouble is loads of other people have cottoned on to this now and you need to be there a few days in advance to get a place to moor! Even the dog liked to come out of the boat to watch the display, doesn't seem to bother her one little bit0

Is this the one on the Hoe? That's the only one we ever bother with.
Best displays done by professionals, all free and on in the summer so it's not so cold!No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
I used to always spend about a tenner on fireworks for my DD. My Mum, Dad and Nana would all come over to mine for jacket potatoes and chilli then my Dad would set off the fireworks while we stood well back. My DD had always been frightened of the larger displays so it became a bit of a tradition.....untill 3 years ago. One of the fireworks mis fired and suddenly instead of the shots going upwards they went everywhere and we were all in a firing line. My Nana got hit in the leg by one of the shots which then riccoched off the ground and up my Mums skirt. My DD and I managed to run down the side of the house whilst being chased by another one of the shots - luckily for us it missed us. My Dad was alright even though he was closest. Part of the firework had embedded itself into my garden. My Nanas coat was burned and she had a terrible bruise on her leg. My Mums legs were burned in places and her tights and skirt were ruined. The company reimbursed us for the clothes and collected the faulty firework. I will never have fireworks again, anyway we have a dog now so I dont think she would be impressed either.
Like the idea about going up onto the moors to look down on everything - sounds nice with a hot toddy:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0
