  • Popuphouse UK sell the fold-away Cardboard Playhouses with cartoon illustrations on the side. We used them for a kids party which appeared on their website! It kept the kids amused for nearly 4 hours...

I remember seeing some miniature versions too - but I can't remember where or how much.

a nice decorated box filled with paper/glue/crate paper/googley eyes/craft foam etc with scissors/sellotape/pens/crayons/playdough. i do these up regularly i adapt for the age of the child but for my girls and family and friends children craft stuff goes down a storm tescos always have a nice selection of craft bits you could easily make up a big box alot cheaper than you can buy the craft sets for in say argos

I bought each of my children one of those tool boxes with a carry handle and lots of little compartments inside. I wrote their names on with permanent marker pens and decorated them with pretty stickers. Then I filled each one with all of the above plus some 1p and 2p coins, envelopes, date stamper, stickers, post-it notes, colouring pencils and any other stationery items I could think of and they went down a storm! The boxes were brilliant to take when we went on holiday or to friends for the day as they always found lots of different uses including playing 'shops' and 'post offices' along with making lots of craft things.

If you got one of these you could then refill it for her on birthdays and Christmases. As she gets older you can add things like paper clips, split pins, hole punch, stapler, geometry sets, stencils, etc. My children used theirs like this until their teens!
