Help needed with 2 yr olds present

This seems like a cop out I know but I'm really strugglung to get something for my niece. She is 2 and seems to have everything! Seriously, I've ordered a few things then been told by my brother he bought it for her a while ago.
I'm stuck! I dont get to see her often so wanted to get something good but stuck at that.
How do you buy for kids when you dont know what they have? :(

Any ideas of unusual kids presents? Or where to look for things that probably wont be in every high street shop?

  • Hi
When my daughter was 2 I got her a Kinderhouse from thepackagingstore.co.uk . Basically its a cardboard playhouse which can be painted, coloured or just scribbled on. Depends on how much available space they have as to whether its suitable. My daughter is 6 now and we only put the house out for recycling this summer, so money well spent. Other sites do sell cardboard igloos, castles etc. Would not be to all parents tastes but the kids love them !!
  • My two have far too much too! Cutesy of the two Grandmother's car booting!

vouchers for shoes eg Clarks/Startrite/Russel & Bromley

We bought my God Daughter a silver bracelet for her Christening and now every birthday/Christmas all we buy her is a charm, some are very inexpensive.

My two nieces have gorgous personalised clocks (the fairy castle one) that we bought from here http://www.woodworms.org.uk/
direct at a craft fair. I would phone them to order as the website doesn't look very up-to-date. We were childless at the time so spent a bit more on presents than we do now!
  • Oh thats fab! I just looked it up. What a good idea! Thanks very much :D

Sorry Tamster missed your post, thanks for the link, the butterfly clock is really cute. LOVE the fairy castle one too.
    Brilliant ideas :)

    Glad I asked!
  • I was torn between the butterfly & fairy but went with the fairy as the fairy swings (pendulam) if you phone they may be able to tell you if they are at any craft fairs near to you. I bought direct so have no idea what their postal service is like.
  • what about some really nice special books, like hardback, or a collection of stories, for years ahead.

What about some unusual accessories (my daughter is 2.5 and getting into bits and bobs) like on facebook there are places (like my homepage lol) that sell special bunting, or necklaces/bracelets, usually well priced and something a bit different. try searching on facebook for uk handmade crafts and there are lots of little links.

what about bookends, some nice personalised wooden ones?
