Tesco complaints??

I bought a pair of boots from Tesco no longer that 5 weeks ago, yesterday when taking my son to nursery the strap came loose and got tangled around my foot and I fell flat on my face.
Some very kind people came to my rescue as I think I passed out for a few seconds, they wanted to phone a ambulance but I just wanted to get up as I was so embarrassed.
Anyway went back to Tesco with the boots and explained what happened, got offered a refund but refused as it had happened with the other boot the week before (but luckily I never fell that time). The customers services lady filled in a incident report on the computer and put them in a bag to be sent away , she told me I would receive a phone call in 3-4 weeks, I got a note of the reference number and the code for the boots.
After the incident I went to A&E in the afternoon as my right knee and calf were very painful (I have sprained my knee and pulled ligaments in my calf). Since getting up this morning I am aching all over, neck, arm, knee and calf all on right side sore and my hip is sore and bruised.
Can anyone advise me what I do now? Do I just wait 3-4 weeks for them to phone me or should I e-mail someone before to tell them how I am feeling this morning?
Thanks in Advance
Nik

  • Tesco offered to refund you and you turned this down,
    Why?

You knew that the boots were faulty "it had happened with the other boot the week before (but luckily I never fell that time)", so why didn't you return them at that time, or at least stop wearing them until you had the problem sorted out.

    Thanks for the reply,
The customer services lady offered me a refund but I never took it as everyone else had told me not to take a refund as they would just put them to the side and dismiss it, I would feel bad if it happened to somebody else just because I never made a proper complaint about them.
I continued to wear the boots because on the side of the strap there is a kind of buckle, I moved both straps on to the last buckle thinking this would stop it coming loose.
  • You could take the refund then send a recorded letter to Tesco head office informing them exactly what happened and detailing your injuries.
In the letter make sure that you state that in your opinion the design of the buckle and strap is flawed, and it is entirely possible that the same problem will occur again and that next time, someone could suffer a far more serious injury.

Once something like this has been received by them and they know it can be proven that they know about a potential problem, they may well see about getting something done.
