The Real Cost of Living in Britain

I think that chips do seem quite a lot worse than they used to be 20 years ago. But on the plus side the variety of other fastfood seems to have improved.0 -
About half the chipshops where I live shut down in the winter, they're just open for the tourist season. Even the Thursday night before Good Friday at 9pm you can struggle to find a chippy open.
Then, once they open, they price stuff high, and put the prices up each year, because the tourists will pay it.0 -
I have never really met anyone who claims they have too much money and everyone seems to spend up to their income level.
I do wonder how people survive on very low salaries though.0 -
I really want some fish and chips!
Decent though, not polystyrene skanky stuff.0 -

I think I'm a 10-12 now
Been tucking into lots of sweeties and biscuits.... and pies.
Goodness, you people must have small appetites! I am a size 10 and I can certainly eat a large cod and a large chips, with mushy peas and a few slices of bread and butter!
In fact, in Scotland, a Fish Supper is usually 2 fish & Chips
I eat myself slim lol - I am a great believer in dieting makes you fat, never had to diet lol
I'd spend £20 on supper at the Indian take out for 2, yet from what a lot of you say, that would feed at least 4 - maybe we are just greedy :rotfl:0 -

x 4 = (40p) so for 4 people, total of = £11.00 delivered (and that is in London!).
If they are spending £20 for fish and chips they must be getting it served in goldleaf or something
.
I think the quote quite rightly assumes everybody would want their own portion - ie a fish each!
I pull a face when my cat tries to steal some of my fish, I buy him his own, peel the batter off (i eat that) and he enjoys a whole cod or haddock and he's a cat!
All you peeps with tiny appetites surprises me

I could happily eat a whole large fish as far as my appetite is concerned, sadly, if I did I'd be even further away from a size 10 thn I am now. Some of us are not blessed with metabolisms that can enjoy a large cod.
I'm always delighted for people wh can.

I'm fancying a cod & chips now LOL - I don't have the luxury of a chippy just down the road, its a trip to the local small town for me to get fish & chips...living out in the back of beyond certainly has its drawbacks....go get yourself some! Do you good, life's too short
