Lindam Stairgate - grrrrr

So mad with lindam customer care!
This morning I went to my (just 2 yrs) daughters rooms which has a stairgate on it, opened the pressure catch pushed it open and the damn thing came off the hinge falling ontop of my daughter.
I called Lindam cust service who after taking all my details said there was nothing they could do as the gate was over 3 yrs old. I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. They were not concerned at all that the plastic hinge thing had sheered and even said that they didn't believe me as they had never had any other complaints.
I asked for a manager to call me back, she then commented that as my daughter was 2 she didn't need a stairgate as most toddlers know how to open them! Again refusing that there was anything they could do. All I wanted was a replacement hinge or repair.
I realise these gates aren't expensive, it's more of a principle thing. A company who are claiming to be committed to child safety but in reality don't give a hoot :-(
