What do non religious people get out of xmas

Xmas is being woken up excitedly by the kids at 5.30am, and the race downstairs! It's also the family being together in a happy mood and being 'allowed' to drink Bacardi at midday whilst cooking the dinner, lol0

christmas is about the family, that special time of the year that you all get together, in the same town, the same house and finally the same room as your most loved ones for some happy times of fun and laughter, xmas is love and family xxx0

I absolutely adore christmas, but I think it depends on your personal circumstances. Just now my kids are still young and its great fun watching them experience 'the magic'.
I think it polarises emotions for some reason, people are either much happier or much sadder than usual............I really feel for parents who live apart from their children at xmas, I did a few shifts in a pub over the festive season a few years back and I talked to so many people that didn't get to see their children on christmas day, that must be very hard.
I'm not a christian but I get a lot out of christmas, quality time with my kids, a feeling of togetherness, the 'warm fuzzy' feeling that other posters have described. Can't wait!Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur0 -
The member of the general public was correct (but about 2000 years late).mustrum_ridcully wrote:Well to paraphrase what a member of the general public said when asked about Christmas "It's such a great time of the year that even the religious people are trying to muscle in on it" - sadly I kid you not! There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I enjoy the excuse to get together with family - its one of the few times everybody makes the effort to get together at the same time. Although that said part of the holiday are escaping on holiday this year - pfff!Debt: a bloomin big mortgage
