I've got my eye on this, to go with my San Francisco. Just a bit cautious as to whether
1. Quidco will track properly
2. The £5 500mb data add on is enough, as I'm not really sure how much data I need.0 -

I've got an HTC Desire on Orange with a 500Mb data bundle and never even go near that figure. That said, the majority of my web usage is done over my home wi-fi network or somewhere such as Wetherspoons where free wi-fi is available.
My son got the San Francisco and we unlocked it (for £1.50) and got a Giffgaff sim card for it which for £10pm gives 150 mins of calls, unlimited texts and *unlimited* internet. He uses his phone for surfing while at work a lot (no wi-fi) and still hasn't used more than 100Mb half way through the month.
If you're going to watch live streamed TV then that really does eat the megabytes, I calculated that I could do 500Mb in within 2 hours on high quality settings!

orange have an awful track record of paying out on quidco, and ive used close to 3gb this month, but thats with downloading a few roms and quite a bit of music :rotfl:0 -
Hmm, thanks for that. Atm I'm on a Tmob contract due to expire in a couple of weeks that gives me 1gb of data, which is fine. I do have wifi at home but don't bother with it because I'd have to turn it on and off, it drains battery and I have a mast about 300m from my house so have full HSDPA and just use that. My options as I see it are:
This Orange deal, with the £5 add on
The tesco 30 day £10 deal - 500 mins unlimited texts and 500mb data
The Tmob deal which may or may not exist anymore - the 12 month £10 a month 600 mins, 3gb FUP data and a flexi booster.
Reluctant to use Giffgaff as 150 mins may not be enough. :S0 -
Personally, if you're happy with your current limits on T-Mobile then I would maybe phone them and see if they can come up with a better deal if you were to extend the contract, get the San Francisco and get it unlocked and just use the T-Mobile sim card in it.

Giffgaff also do a £15 per month goodybag -300 mins/untd texts/utd internet/free 0800 calls. Not sure if you are wanting to spend that but just an idea.Plus GG have no fair use policy on internet or texts.

Yeah that's what I'm doing atm. Already got the phone with my existing Tmob sim in it. I've called them a few times to see what they can do. Thus far I've been offered, for £10 a month sim only, either a 24 month contract 600 mins unlimited texts and internet, or 12 month contract the same but with 500 texts. I don't wanna sign for 24 months, I think the concept of 24 month contract is a joke. And I think I'd use more texts than 500 a month. So I'm not sure what to do. He did say I could upgrade with my loyalty discounts at any point through that 24 month contract but what they'd actually offer me is a different matter I guess.Personally, if you're happy with your current limits on T-Mobile then I would maybe phone them and see if they can come up with a better deal if you were to extend the contract, get the San Francisco and get it unlocked and just use the T-Mobile sim card in it.
Neil I'd rather not go to £15 a month if I can get it for £10 - might just take the £10 goodybag and see how it goes....0 -

I thought the T-Mobile deal was £10 12 month sim only with 600 mins, 500 text, 3GB data and a flexible booster (unlimited text, landline or tmob-tmob calls).... Therefore you want 12 month with free text booster0 -

I couldn't agree more. I have been 'stung' on both internet and mobile phones this way. You take out a contract, 12 months later the prices have dropped and the benefits increased substantially for new users. Locking yourself into 24 months is insane given the competition for business. More importantly whilst 30 pounds a month doesn't sound a lot, if extrapolated across 24 months you are committing yourself to 720 pounds of debt.
Sometime back I had been with AOL for 6 years, I took out broadband at 1MB speeds for 17.99 a month. 3 months later they offered 4gb unlimited for 9.99, with a free laptop. I enquired as to whether I could obtain 4gb speeds at the same price (wasn't after the laptop) and they stated this was only for new customers. So much for customer loyalty
. I use this purely as an example of the changes that can take place swiftly in the communications market.
The disappointment wasn't as painful as the incessant phone calls and emails I got from AOL 9 months later asking why I was cancelling my broadband :rotfl:0
