Security updates failing

Hi I have an important windows update which won't load it keeps on failing and windows update stays on 0%

This is what it says can anyone help please.SECURITY UPDATE FOR MICROSOFT.NET
framework 3.5 sp1, windows vista
sp2 and windows server
2008 sp2 x 86 (KB24164700
any advice on what I should do please.

Try downloading direct from Microsoft Update website rather than automatic updates.

Presume it's KB2416470 not KB24164700 as you posted.

From what I have read courtesy of Google - there do seem to be some issues with this particular update. You are not alone !

If it continues to be a problem - make sure that all of your other up updates are downloaded first then re-try.

Hi I started this thread of I've followed the download instructions and succesfully updated these KB980842 and KB915597 but in my control panel alongside the update which I was looking to update because it had had failed KB24164700 it says canceled ,but it also says that I have no important updates .

what I found was that the user control permsision was what causing my updates to fail as it was not coming as giving permission, as soon as I turned them off they worked (turned them back on of course after the updates)
