fitting an outside security light

hi i had someone try to break into my house the other night and so want to fit a security light in my drive with a motion sensor . Looking at some they have no cables AND AM TOLD THEY NEED TO BE HARD WIRED IN , THE ONES WITH BATERIES ARENT VERY POWERFUL . So how best go about this - contact a handyman who can get the light , fit it and hard wire it ? will i need it near the fusebox then ? thanks

Just get5 an ordinary electrician to do it. He wil advise on the best type of light, source it for you and sort out the cabling etc.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • How about a Solar Powered security light, for which an 'electrician' is not necessary?
Mind you, if you don't/can't DIY and have to use a paid installer the overall cost may be greater than for a mains powered unit.
The 'Evo 56' is roughly the equivalent of a 100 - 150w Halogen security light and will cover up to 40m away from where the light is mounted.
The Evo56 has a powerful 2.5W solar panel that charges the high capacity battery during the day. At night the Evo56 illuminates when it detects motion in the same way as regular mains powered security lights.

We smoked under our cousins solar powered light the other night, it went out in about 8 minutes which means it was 'off' for the rest of the night.

Get one 'hard wired' for piece of mind (I'm sure that they had a fretful nights sleep knowing that there were no back lights working).
