Can not Download anything please help. (windows 7)

Please help.

my desktop started running slow after I ran a marcos on excel someone sent me. so I restored pc to factory condition and now any programmes I try to install I first run the download and then when it comes to running the programme I get the egg timer for 5 seconds then nothing at all. I do not know what to do but I can not do anything to sort it so thought I would ask for help.

Vista machine or Windows 7 ?
Does the download complete Ok ?
And have you re-installed Norton 360 on that machine ?

When you say the egg timer does nothing popo up asking if you wan't to run/allow the Installer ? (it may be on the task bar rather than popping up)

Hi, as state in title windows 7

I just downloaded hijackthis via safari browser but when try to run it it says it is being stopped from changing files or something then it disapeared and I can not even find it in search.

in IE on downloads it asks if I wish to run the programmes after download is ended. then #I click "run" and eggtimer comes on for around 5 seconds or less then nothing.

I have tried downloading four programmes and is same for all.

Ok, where did you save them to? Desktop or Documents ? If you find hijack this then press shift and right click on its icon/entry then try run as administrator.

Is it just downloads you are having problems with?

Can you run updates okay?

can not find it and saved to default locations. should I change location or name of file?

At moment that and programmes I know are on the PC are not showing up in the "all programmes" but they do if I go to uninstaller.

How to test download

Go to - http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition-2011/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?!!!!!contentMain;contentAux

And press Download Now.

THEN

1) Find the program you want to download. Press Save instead of Run



2) A new box will appear, on the left under Computer, you should have C:, press this. Then press SAVE.



3) When the download has finished. Press OPEN FOLDER.



4) Find the file you have downloaded, and double click it. Does it open?
