i've a very similar problem. wanted to leave sky, cancelled that. ordered BT - order went through fine (according tot he online tracker)
still have sky voicemail on the line over a week later so spoke to BT who told me i didnt exist! cutting a long story short i have now had to cancel my BT account/order and need to call back tomorrow as my 'request had been rejected by sky'
what should I do now? did you resolve the issue?
the only slight difference with mine is that sky provided the original number in 2009..... but im not that fussed if i need to change it to get away.0 -
Here's how my story ended...
After being without my phone line and broadband on Friday 5th November (and being told by BT that it was Sky's fault and Sky telling me it's BT's fault) I couldn't do anything until Monday 8th (when BT's engineers returned from the weekend). I spoke to BT on the Monday who were very helpful. They looked into the situation and got the line working (a BT line) later that day, with my old number. But my broadand was gone (I had to reapply through another provider)
I did write and complain to Sky but received nothing other than a "sorry we screwed up letter". It's pure speculation but I suspect the line transfer failed for some reason on Friday, this could be down to Sky not releasing the number, a problem at the exchange and the engineers down tools for the weekend or for another reason. I don't know why Sky told me the reason the transfer had failed was down to them not releasing the number (useless customer service). But once BT got on the case on the Monday morning they got the problem resolved (possibly by phoning Sky and asking them what they were playing at). So I am now a BT line rental customer again, with my old number.
Moral of the story (for me), never move your phone line away from BT, the £1 to £2 a month saving on line rental is just not worth the hassle when you consider the hassle of getting the line back.0
