Council tax single occupancy.

Help!! My girlfriend has just had a letter from her local council asking her to fill in a form regarding her single occupancy council tax status. We have been seeing each other for about 5 months and I stay over 2 or 3 nights a week, and she stays with me a couple of nights a week. Sometimes we don't see each other at all some weeks. Is she still OK claiming single occupancy council tax benefit.

She only loses the right to claim the Single Person Discount if there is another person over 18 yrs of age who has the property as their 'sole or main residence'.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
