  • any more word? its terrible that they treat someone who is pregnant different from you. Ive been in several dif schools and never seen a teacher sit on the floor and the only time would maybe b circle time teachers sit all the time! I just think its terrible you could be on my course they dont seem to give a damn bout the students either!
  • No nothing. I've decided to go back in this week but will be contacting the nursery Tuesday to say my back is still not well enough to go in Wednesday. In reality it is a lot better but has still ached some mornings, and quite frankly i'm not prepared to risk it playing up any further. My health is a priority, not being in a nursery where I won't actually get any teaching experience anyway.

I have my meeting on Thursday with the uni I wish to move to. I was told at some point i'd be asked to take them a portfolio of last years work so they can compare them and see if the courses are similar. I've decided to show initiative and take it Thursday. Hopefully will show I'm keen, and will prevent any delays. I don't think me moving will be a problem as they have seen a friends portfolio from my uni and offered him a place, considering we did the same work last year it should definitely be ok.

I'm glad I'm not the only one never to have seen teachers on the floor. The only time I have was during a year 2 lesson on measuring where they were drawing around a child to measure parts of them. Obviously the child needed to be lying down for that but for short periods of time like that I'm fine, just not all day, and let's face it, even those without a back problem would be likely to have backache from sitting on a floor all day.

  • yea even the wee chairs in the nursery hurt after a while and im 'fit and able' lol i hope you get it sorted if you move maybe theyl b more help. Are you willing to say which uni it is? i know another teacher down south, though all my student friends are in scotland.
  • Haven't updated this in a while.

My latest situation is that on the 30th November I had a meeting with the tutor in charge of placements. I was under the impression it was due to me missing a day on placement because of my back but he seemed to make it all about me leaving. (By that point he was aware as the uni had done my academic reference)

In light of that meeting it came to my attention that if I didn't leave by the 1st December I would have to pay the whole years tuition fees up front and obviously I don't have that kind of money. I spoke to the uni's student support who advised me to take a leave of absence as that would stop my money meaning the uni wouldn't be paid, I wouldn't be charged anything and would leave me with a years worth of funding to transfer to my new uni. So that's what I did.

The new uni had told me a decision would be made about my transfer by the end of December/ early Jan. Their term started last week so I emailed a tutor I had been dealing with and got no response, so I emailed another one I'd spoken to a couple of times and again nothing. I phoned last Friday and was told a letter was being sent that weekend and would be here Tuesday at the latest. Today is that Tuesday and still nothing!!

I had already come to the conclusion I would not be starting this year. The alternative was to start my second year in January 2012 so hopefully the letter (if it ever turns up) will say they have a place for me then. As a back up I applied to start from year 1 in September so there is still this possibility.

I'm really hoping it's not been rejected altogether. The only thing which may have gone against me was that in the academic reference they said the reasons I was leaving was because of my back from doing a nursery placement and personal reasons. In fact it was just personal reasons, my back had nothing to do with this as I'd started the transfer process before knowing where my placement would be. I did put in a letter saying I had been misrepresented.

Overall I am annoyed I've heard nothing, ignoring my emails is actually worse than a letter being late.

So currently I'm stuck with no uni, and no job :(

  • Still no letter so I've emailed the tutor again after having no luck phoning admissions. Was told the letter will be chased up and I was asked if I'd applied to start year 1, if I hadn't it would be a good idea to so I guess my transfer has been rejected but until the letter ever turns up I won't know why.

Does anyone know how this would leave me with SF? As I said above I'm on a leave of absence from my current uni so If I couldn't get into year 1 I could also go back there in September to start year 2 again. My issue comes from what would happen if I started year 1 at this new uni?
