Driving my dads car

Currently doing driving lessons, and did want to borrow my dads car in the later stages, so I can get a bit of extra practise in without paying £20 an hour for the privilege.
I looked into putting myself onto my dads insurance as a named driver, but as he's got a saga over 50 plan, it seems they wont insure me too.
Is there a way of insuring myself on my dads car, when I'll only be using it occasionally just before and after passing my test (hopefully),
Thanks

Yes and no, in that order
Provisional

no good way when you pass though.
The only way is if your dad changes his company to one that will have you as a named driver. My policy won't touch drivers under 19, so my kids can't drive my car either.0 -
Does your dad actually want you on his car insurance when you pass?
Lots of young people presume that others don't mind them being on their car insurance once they have past their test when in fact they do.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

After 17 years of ferrying the little bu***rs about, they certainly can take me to the pub and back if they could!
They've had the rest of my money, so even if they do wrap the car up, the loss of my ncd will just be a bit more.0 -

lol yes, I've had this discussion with my dad, he knows that I can't afford a car on my own just yet, so he's the one that suggested it. I'll see what other insurance is about.
I'm 26, so not in the worst bracket for insurance, just not the best as I'm still a provisional driver.TSB: £4900

Oh you are sensible age. I thought you were under 20.
You probably find yourself your dad's taxi service as you need more practise even when you pass.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

As you're 26 and female I don't think it'll be too expensive. Get your dad to cancel and cash in the saga policy and switch to the one that comes up cheapest for him with you as a named driver on the comparison sites.0
