Speeding Ticket, Reg Wrong

Someone I know has been stopped by the police for speeding and has been given a producer. Now, the registration on the ticket is wrong and it also states that the car is a manual but it is actually an automatic.
Can the police/courts enforce this ticket?

When stopped by real police, it is hard to contest. If reg number is out by just a letter, then the case still stands.

If it is totally wrong, eg. AB03XYZ instead of PQ15CRS, then I wonder whether they have mixed up the case with something else. In this scenario, one might simply ignore stating he is not owner of this car.

Thanks for your quick response. The registration is out by just one letter.

Minor errors do not invalidate the ticket, I'm afraid. There is more about this on pepipoo.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Brother in law received a notice of intended prosecution for dangerous driving in the vicinity of a school.

The incident was the other side of the town, Not a million miles away, But he had not been there and the
make & model of his scooter was wrong. Looking closer someone had crossed out the vehicles correct reg
and hand written my inlaws one.

I told him if it was me i would have sent the paperwork back with the driver details as i presume the owner was
riding it at the time. Then waited for the next letter. But he did not want the hassle.

Why someone crossed out the correct reg and entered his is a mystery.
