A few friends and I are most likely to go to tunisia on 15 nov and have found a very good deal below for £275 all inclusive 7 nights 5* star hotel with travel insurance. (quidco to get 2%, no egg card)
http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/pso/catalog/Product.jhtml?PRODID=390019120&CATID=99674&
For those who have been here please recommend things to do in the area, we are most likely to hire a car for the week to explore different areas, so do we get a car from lastminute or should we hire one when we get there, (dont know how much car hire with lastminute will cost)
Should we get traveller's cheque or just change for the local currency with cash. Also what is the likely cost of a meal out in the evenings etc.
Thanks in advance.

shopping in the Medina.. lots of haggeling required... Desert BBQ & dancing.. and a visit to the Star Wars set is usually popular.0

Thanks. I should have also ask what the nightlife is like there and also it is suitable for a few sensible single guys to go and have fun.0

I did a 3 day trip out to the Sahara desert in a landrover.. I can definately recommend it, it was fabulous!
Life is sometimes a bit pants but occasionally you can wear your french knickers!

Buy booze on the plane over or duty free before you fly. alcohol is really only sold in hotels to tourists and is pricey.
travellers cheques are good idea as the currency was a closed currency when we went. this means you can only buy it while in the country and not leave with any either. ATM's are few and far between
good things to do
1) Hammet market is colourful to say the least and great experiance
2) A tour of Tunis and ruins of Carthage is a very intresting day (Tunis city center is a bit itimidating though)
3) casino near Sousse if you fancy a flutter
4) Sahara jeep ride overnight with a vist to all the Star wars bits was my favBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Just giving my thread a bump for anyone else to have their inputs.0

My boyfriend went to Sousse market a few years back and he said it was a nightmare. Traders constantly hassling you, grabbing hold of you and will not accept no for an answer. It is frightening if you have a woman with you (his words not mine)
He stayed at the Sahara Beach hotel and that was great. He loved everything about Tunisia EXCEPT Sousse Market. He got a fantastic leather jacket but it took 2 hours of haggling.0
