Lucky you!
You could chop them up, roll in sugar and open freeze, when frozen bag them and you will have a supply of nectarines to add to smoothies or to thaw and serve with yogurt, custard, ice-cream or whatever takes your fancy. Not sure why the sugar, think that it has something to do with preventing the juice from leaking out while freezing...

When I made my strawberry jam I put it into lock'n'lock tubs and it worked fine, so if you fancy jam, don't be put off by not having jars!0

could you half the remaining ones, griddle them lightly and serve with yoghurt as tonights pudding?????
wish they had reduced them in my tescos!!!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I never knew you could use anything other than jars for jam...that is tempting.
I've never made jam so I might hunt out a really fool proof recipe.
I know about being lucky - they must have messed up the number they meant to order!!!!!
I like the idea of chopping and sugaring some of them as well.
I've cooled the crumble filling and strained some of the sauce off so that can be used to make nectarine icecream rather than using the fruit itself.
Might see what 'nectarine tart' brings up with google. I've seen the ones where they pop the fruit in a heavy small frying pan, cook and then put the pastry on top, cook and turn over. I've a feeling I might end up with mush though."Stay Wonky":D

You sound far more creative than me... I would chop small, put in freezer in small portions and add to smoothies still frozen instead of icecubes...0

Hi all,
I have a punnet of necterines in the fridge that have ripened and need using up. Does anyone have any ideas? Preferably something I can freeze as I have apple crumble to be finished 1st.
Thanks

You could do a rumtopf. Layer them in a large widenecked jar, with a layer of sugar and cover with white alcohol eg. rum or vodka. Keep adding to it until it's full, then leave for a while and enjoy.0

Is there enough for jam or chutney?
Or you could poach them in syrup and freeze.:wave:0 -
Hi faye,
There's an older thread on using up nectarines so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.
