Last year my one grandma recieved a personalised calender with photos for each month and I took her to an english heritage site she wanted to go to and the other went on a John Lewis sewing course she had been talking about. Both were well recieved I think?War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0

Please don't be offended Tikka but why do people always think Grandparents are going to be thrilled with (usually yet more of) photos. My 89 yr old mum has more than enough! I know she'd like to take some of them down but thinks people with be offended. I have photos of my own family but they are kept to one room and the rest go in photo albums.
No offence taken! I keep forgetting that I am a grandma, and I take your point.
The best ever Xmas gift this Grandma has been given was last year when my DS gave me a voucher for a Nail Bar.I had never been before, and I emerged after my appointment with long, red nails with a little daisy painted on each! How I loved those nails! They lasted for months, and I so enjoyed the experience.0 -
Heated tartan boot, shawl, kangas. I'm kidding!! My mam is a granny (never a Nanna - she hates that word)! I get her jewellery, smellies, books, makeup, bright nail varnish etc for Christmas. She's 68 and often has her fingernails all different colours, sometimes a bit of leopard print.....lol.0

I remembered another thing I gave my mum, which she was really pleased with. She has always had a thing abut 'seascapes'. A few years ago, while we were abroad on holiday, mr newleaf took some fantastic photos of a storm coming in over the Indian Ocean, full of turquoise rollers, boiling surf and boulders, and a beautifully moody sky. So I chose the best one, and we had it blown up on a big canvas for her. She loves it, and has it hanging over her fireplace.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I guess the one thing we can say is that all us grannies, grandmas, nannies, nanas etc are as varied as our titles. Good luck to all grandchildren trying to figure us out.Sell £1500

I think this is true. Photos of the family are one of the few things my MIL does like getting. The other thing that goes down well is a food hamper.
We racked our brains for what to get her for a 90th birthday present and came up with a small two person size slow cooker. To our surprise it has been a huge hit and she is using it nearly every day and rarely using her oven or hob now.
We have a problem for Christmas this year because she had so much given to her for her birthday in September that there is very little left to buy.0 -
I'm a nan of 59 and I always appreciate a nice bottle of Jamesons whisky...!!0

Im putting together some skin care and make up for my aunt of 83
Thats what she wanted. Including "some of that stuff that makes your eyelashes grow"
It really does depend on the individual. Im 60 but I wear skinny jeans and studded biker boots. Another 60 year old may (though not so often these days) be happy with fluffy slippers and a dressing gown. Im asking the kids for Chanel perfume
and some skin creams that I like. Oh, though I have added a "designer Jessie Steele 50s retro apron" to the list.
Only you can really understand what she may want.
If all else fails, put together a hamper of stuff you know for sure she will like to eatplus some little bits like hand cream or scented candles. You can get quite a lot of diabetic foods now. Oh, one of my boys bought me a digital radio for the kitchen last year. Not at all something Id have thought of, but I love it. Does she listen to the radio much? Read books/watch dvds?

My (only) grandchildren are living in Australia so I dont get to see/cuddle them very often. Every year my DIL sends me a calendar. Each month has a different picture of them sometimes with their parents - pictures were all taken over the previous year. At the end of the year the pictures are cut out and go in an album. Its a gift that lasts all year and a reminder of them growing up.0

I'm a Grandma of 63, and really have all I need so what I'd like is a water well. I buy my DB as DSiL one every year and would be so happy if they, or anyone else in the family, did the same for me.
I have an 89 y/o mother who does very little but read and drink brandy. I refuse to buy alcohol and her books are large print from the library. She loves *lay but has boxes and bottles of the stuff, I bought her perfume once and she never used it. I can't buy her a water well because she'd say it's selfish! Work that one out?! I visit her as often as I can, about once a month, but I live on my pension so it's expensive to travel the 180 mile round trip. The gift she liked most was a subscription to her weekly ladies mag, which I've just let run on. It doesn't cost much ad she looks forward to reading it.
I know it's lovely to receive presents but if as I really have everything I need I'd much rather someome gifted me a water well or similar.0
