Ahh, its only a couple of copper wires...

I've got a much more moneysaving idea - just strip back the two wires to expose a bit of the copper, twist the broken ends together, wrap each exposed copper join in copius amounts of insulation tape - Jobs a goodun!

joe, that's assuming that the wires haven't shorted and blown the charger.

If the op does try that, make sure that the conductors are connected correctly - hooking them up in reverse could seriously damage the laptop (i'd personally solder and heatshrink the joint).

You an use connecting pieces called 'chocolate block' to join wires more safely. You can buy it in wilkos or Maplins. It is plastic ,white and square and has little screw fixings like you get inside of a plug. You put one broken end of your cable in one side then the corresponding piece from the other end of the broken cable in the opposite side so that they make a connection and you tighten the screws to secure them. When you have them fixed in place, cover it all with electrical tape .
The fixers are about 80p or something small like that for a strip of about 5 I think.

Hmmmm....yes, suppose the root cause should be sorted out really.

So does the cat not get enough attention or it wants it's laptop back or it's desparate to get back onto twitter
