New York - Beginner questions

Hi guys,

I'm sure these questions have been asked a hundred times before, but I'd be grateful for some advise.

Flying to New York :

1/ Is there much difference in which airport to fly into / out of ?

2/ Is there much difference between AF / KLM / Delta?

Thanks in advance

There are differences between all of your questions but the underlying factor should always be cost.

I think KLM/Delta/Northwest are all now part of the same group

Thanks for the replys. I'd already seen the NY link, but its already 88 pages long, & after the first 20 or so pages, it generally seems to be chat about specific hotels / times of year.

Yes KLM / Delta / Af all seem to be part of the same group, but I can fly with either Delta or KLM or AF at approx the same price form either Schipol / CDG / London. I've flown long haul with both AF & KLM, but never Delta & never to USA, so just wondered if anyone had any personal experience of if anyone was better than another.

    Thanks in advance

Well I booked through KLM and not one of the 4 planes I travelled in were KLM :rotfl:

I had a Delta plane on my journey back from Vegas 2-4-2 (always prefer that layout) Seat pitch was sufficient and the service was great, always asking if we wanted refreshments ect, snack at the start of the flight - nuts and biscuits and a drink, dinner - I cannot remember but no complaints and also another snack before landing, chicken wraps, they were yum!

You can check the seat pitch etc on seat guru. It will also advise what kind of entertainment you have on the plane and what the best seats to get are!

    Thanks Bungle.

I'm flying from Edinburgh so I have to go via either London / CDG / Schipol so the online booking site with either KLM or AF gives me a whole load of choices for which airline I want to use.

    Have you tried pricing Continental?
They fly direct from Edinburgh...believe me direct flights are a whole load better.

For a family of four continental are about £1900. AF are £1300. I think we save with AF because we're flying to CDG first & therefore avoid the new higher taxes

Aw ok that is a pretty big saving, although I have heard bad reports about AF, meals etc not good.
