Hi This is my first post so if im in the wrong place let me know!!

I was interested to read your posts regarding littlewoods mess ups. Last month i went in to pay my buy now pay later item before the interest kicked in and to my dismay they had added the interest early.
I was told that if i paid it now then a letter would be sent to sort it out. Payed the outstanding balance in full and thought nothing more about it.
Went in this month to make a payment and found out that the amount plus interest is still outstanding and im being charged for it:mad:. Phoned and a very helpfull advisor told me that it was a computer glich and could take 8 weeks to sort out?? Meanwhile im expected to pay for an item that i have already paid for. Im told that i can pay a reduced amount but will be charged a late payment fee of £12. I asked if this would affect my credit rating and they confirmed that yes it would!!!
So were do i stand? Im paying for something that i have already paid for and now cant afford to pay the monthly mimimum payment. Would appreciate any advice you may have x
They cannot charge a late payment fee for a payment you don't owe and they cannot legally put it on your credit record either. But it will probably be the very devil to get it sorted out. A good start would be to write a letter and state that you
    • are only paying what you owe
    • will not accept late payment charges for amounts you don't owe
    • expect them to bear the consequences of their own bill errors
    • will not tolerate them trashing your credit record when you are paying what you owe
    And keep a copy.

  • Poor you OP
My bug gear is that if you pay DD and have stuff that has been despatched by them, they charge you based on that balance.
So if you return anything they have snarfed a bigger payment off your original balance I cancelled my DD in the end

I too have had "late charges" applied to my account and the phone staff were VERY unhelpful,I eventually got them removed but only after a lot of agro

Disgraceful that's blackmail I have late payments on my credit file too because I refused to pay twice while they sorted it.

8 weeks is outrageous report them to the FSA

  • the interest will be removed, trust me. Just make under the minimum and they have no choice to refund the charges, just call in and (politely) ask the cs advisor to make a note on your account to say why you are not making the full payment.....
  • Thanks for your reply's, i made the payment today that included the stuff i have already paid for as i didnt have time to sort anything out with customer services.

I am though going to report them to the FSA and ring the number that the cs rep gave me for some director. Although it is prob the local take away:)

Is there any legal blurb i should quote them to speed things up?

What awful advice. FSA doesn't have any capacity to deal with individual complaints.
