Washing Machine Smell

Hi all I have just bought a second hand washing machine that has been unused for a while. Have run it through a couple of wash cycles with detergent. But have just tried washing some old towels but they smell a bit fusty. Any ideas what to try and freshen it up a bit?
Thanks

Run it at the hottest temp wthout any washing powder but pour a little vinegar in the tray.0

Put some soda crystals in the powder drawer and run a wash cycle at a high temp, this'll clean out any gunk/old powder that might be in the machine.
Also put some white towels (or do it on empty) on at 60 with bleach (either in one of those ball things in the drum, or via a dispenser in the drawer). This'll really frreshen up your machine and give you lovely white towels.
Plus when you've emptied the machine leave the drawer and door open for a while which will help keep your machine amelling fine.
Can you tell I got sick of my other half complaining about our machine smelling???

run the hottest wash you can with a mixture of Bicarb of soda and vinegar.0

I've run mine at hottest temp before with a tiny squirt of bleach. Don't put too much in though as it will froth up like mad! then do one wash on a hot wash again with, say, white towels.0

a cupful of white vinegar.
do it say every month. keeps your machine sweet.Get some gorm.0 -
Hi
I had this with my dishwasher. It may not be related but the thermostat had broken and it was washing much colder than it should have been. Maybe not related but worth checking if the machine is secondhand. You can do a quick check by simply touching the glass during a cycle and seeing if the glass is hot to the touch.0 -
Another vote for Soda crystals0

Run the longest hottest wash with soda crystals and then repeat with vinegar.0

Thanks for all the replies will give the soda crystals a try.
