Fitting a Fluorescent tube

Struggled to get the old 1.5m long ones out before I realise that tghere is a ring with grooves in that I guess I was supposed to quarter turn clockwise to allow the old buld to come out easily.
So now I'm tring to put the new tube in and I can even move the access ring - it's so stiff I think it's going to break.
Any help - please!

gorm
Thanks for that - I got them in
One of the bulbs isn't lighting up -it's trying to. Do I need to do something else? Aren't there little switches I might need to replace?0 -
Probably the starter - there should be a small twist-to-fix component on the side of the fitting - you may need to replace this0
