But can be assessed as being 12.56 based on the threshold being divided by 365.
Its not confusing your just making it a bigger issue then it is. After the average qtr is 91 days - if the qtr is shorter or longer is easier to tell someone that its 12.56 per day then go well its 1143 per qtr.0 -
Thanks Gal thought i was going mad lol..Hey folks...remember I might work for the company but I am a human and working in my own time, I will not responde to people who are rude, sarcy and crits me. My views and comments do not reflect British Gas and they are totally unreasponsable for my responses.0

The 1143kWh per quarter is quoted in the prices, and the period between meter readings (or estimates) is a quarter. For a rough calculation, even if the few days difference between the 'quarterly' bills is ignored, it will only be a few pence out.
What I am getting at - is that the original poster was asking if there are different rates for different times of the day, saying there is a threshold of 12.56 per day could give that impression. That is how it came across, so is why I said 'it was not calculated daily'. I'm not trying to make an issue of it and just trying to clarify what I posted.0 -
If you read my orignal post this is all explainedHey folks...remember I might work for the company but I am a human and working in my own time, I will not responde to people who are rude, sarcy and crits me. lol could go round in circles all night on this.
For the sake of the OP - There is never a night rate on gas
If you have a 'no standing charge' tariff you will have 2 rates a primary and secondary.
This is calculated on an annual threshold for most suppliers of 4572 (Think EDF are higher) - So this divided by 4 gives you the figure of 1143kWh per qtr.
Now the 1143 is based on an average quarter being 91 days - Its rare that anyone has an exact qtr so sometimes this figure will appear different on your bills sometimes higher sometimes less - For ease of explanation this is further broken down into you use 12.56kWh per day and then it goes onto the cheaper secondary units.
There for if your qtr is 96 days - then you will be looking at your qtr'ly threshold being - 1206kWh. (96*12.56)
If the qtr following that is only 86 days (because the qtr above is longer by 5 days) then your threshold will then be - 1080kWh. (86*12.56)
in a period of 365 days though your total will be 4572kWh just that its unevenly spread over qtrs.
But to make it easier to explain then take it based on the principle that 12.56kWh will be used per day and its easier to work out how much you should be charged at the primary rate on gas.
This really has no relation to the original qusetion but should clear it up if there has been any confusion at all.0 -
