They are essentially the same thing.
It's a fee you incur if you don't stay with the deal until the stated date
There's always a chance that things might not be as you originally envisaged.
e.g. when these fees first started, they were usually associated with fixed/capped price agreements but now they appy to variable price tariffs too (so prices may rise)
Also, if you are supplied via an IGT, that won't be included in the prices quoted.
There was also a thread recently by an MSE'er who appears to live very close to the border of a supply region - they input their postcode and got prices for one region, but their MPAN showed they were actually in a different bordering region (and so were expected to pay different prices)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
thanks for that

is there a website you can put your postcode in and it tells you which region youre in?0 -
Hi trixipaws - Don't worry about locating your Region from your Post Code.
The first thing the Switch sites ask is that you enter your Post Code, and from this they will show the prices for that region from every supplier0
