Paypal buyer dispute

That's a good point, I better cancel the credit card I have registered with them at present..0 -

Not a chance. You could just quote the Direct Debit Guarantee at the bank, the bank would give you your money back and take it back from PayPal. Paypal know this so don't even bother trying.
Credit Cards are another matter, I wouldn't trust the firms that run them. You only have to see how they deal with Continuous Credit Authorities to know that they are untrustworthy.
On any Paypal account you are only going to receive money, you don't not need to link a credit card (or bank account), so why bother.
The safest way is to keep your buying and selling ebay personalities apart, with separate Ebay and Paypal accounts. Apart from anything else, if you use a 'disposable' buying account you can leave negative feedback if you wish, without worrying that the seller will respond and effect your future sales.0 -
Thanks for the info on Nochex.cosmokramer2004 wrote:Anyway, thanks to this board I've now had my eyes opened to NOCHEX url]https://www.nochex.com[/url which is cheaper url]http://help.nochex.com/?Action=Q&ID=92[/url - and that's all that was required to convert me!
I've been looking to expand the payment methods available to my buyers and this looks OK. The only disadvantage I can see is that it only allows up to £100 transactions per customer per day, so you would have to use something else if you were lucky enough to be selling more than this. I think you can get around this if both seller and buyer have an account but it certainly needs more investigation. Also the other thing is that they do not accept Non UK Cards. If you don't sell internationally then you should be OK.
I'm also looking into Natwest Fastpay - http://www.fastpay.com/. Anyone had an experience with them?

That could be a bit of a pain, but apparently it's a side-effect of the chargeback protection - and it only applys to Credit Card payments from what I can see (for Xtra enabled accounts). There's a probationary period of 75 days after which you can ask for your receive limit to be increased to £300.
Impressively, there's quite a good support forum with NOCHEX at http://greenroom.nochex.com/ . I'd like to see some of the comments that would appear on a similar PayPal support forum - if they ever had the guts to offer one.
Anyway, thanks all for the hints, tips and advice. When the dispute is resolved I'll post the results.
Cheers,

What alternatives are there that allow for non-uk persons to pay.?
FastPay and NoChex only accept UK Credit/Debit cards.0 -
If you want to keep things simple then the only way to accept foreign payments is to accept paypal.

Thought so!
Although I have used paypal for ages I am not keen on it after reading lots of bad news.... also I don't feel it is very secure asall you need to access the account is the email address and a password.... any hacker then has full access to my registered credit card and can purchase what they like!
Working as an IT analyst a simple password (howver complex you make it) is not really secure as I would like (hence most banks use several verifying details).
I think I will go for FastPay and remove paypal from my accepted methods except for foreign purchasers and remove my registered credit cards.
I also son't see why Ebay should make nearly 10% out of everything I sell (when you consider both ebay and paypal fees!).0 -

Well it has been nearly 2 MONTHS since i first started this thread. These damn PayPal cowboys are really annoying me now. More than 60 days after the buyer first started the dispute, there has still been no resolution to the situation.
Have a look at the timeline of events below - it took 2 phonecalls from me and an escalation to management for them to finally START the review process and since that time they have requested further information from the buyer 6 TIMES!! Has anyone ever had to suffer similar crap from these idiots, or am I alone. Surely this can't be normal?

Can anyone recommend a "next step" for me in getting this situation sorted? The total amount in dispute is £195 and I'm more than willing to go to court to claim it back. It's almost as if PayPal are trying to stall the process so my PayPal account goes back into +ve balance.. (still -£80).
There must be something illegal about what they're doing..
