First of all, please move this if I've posted in the wrong place, as I may well be in the wrong.
The credit union has invited me to consider the Alto Mastercard - a prepaid credit card that seem to look & feel like a credit card, but you know how much there is on it before you spend the money.
The pros appear to be:

The credit union has invited me to consider the Alto Mastercard - a prepaid credit card that seem to look & feel like a credit card, but you know how much there is on it before you spend the money.
The pros appear to be:
no monthly fee
no annual fee - it's valid for 36 months
a low top-up fee
Cons are a £6 opening charge, minimum loads of £10, £1 per machine withdrawal & a fee to the credit union each time you top up. (Well, those numbers are what my localcredit union has said - there may be others.)no annual fee - it's valid for 36 months
