Spam problem? Free Software that works. Based on SpamAssassin

Spamassassin is a awesome piece of software but it is not for the faint hearted to set up, it is opensource meaning free!
- some mail ISP's provide this free of charge but for us mere mortals
use SAwin32

It is a utility that runs in the tray which collects your email and then checks it whether it is spam or ham - if it is spam it will modify the subject to *****SPAM***** and deliver it to your inbox.

You can encapsulate the original message so that you don't have to view any explicit content, or not have to worry about the problem of worms and other nasties.

You have to install the program and then specify your email server's pop3 account.
This is usually pop3.ISP.co.uk.

SAwin32 will then download your email and check it via a scoring system. Anything that scores over the default of 5.0 points gets marked as spam.

Set up a filter in Outlook or your email program to move all messages with the subject *****SPAM***** to the junk folder.

Download and read more about the program and post back in this thread if you need any help or experience any issues!

Can you set up multiple pop3 accounts or does it just work on one?

yes, by configuring the host map but with most clients except Eudora
With Mozilla or Thunderbird works by altering the hosts file to include an alias. with Outlook/Express not a problem although I've not done this.
