just been on energyhelpline (via cashback), put in my details (i'm with EON now), got the results through, and it says I can save £113 with EON. What gives? I can't switch to my existing provider? Why is this cheaper than what I'm currently paying?

Should I call them and tell them I'll switch to EDF (£111 saving) or just continue and go with the EDF saving. Or not switch?

Is it the same tariff with Eon as what you are currently on?

Most suppliers, especially the big 6, have multitude of tariffs. If they are the cheapest, I suggest you give them a call and change tariffs. You should start saving today too, rather than in 4-6 weeks a typical switch of supplier takes.

AQll power companies change their range of tariffs frequently. If you already have an online account you change change tariff up to 8 times a year, and the website banner will always state which online tariff is the current offering, if cheaper than whatever your current tariff switch it when you log in to eon online account. Example is the current tariff esaveonline 4 only been available since last week.

I also got a quote on this web site and British Gas came up way ahead so I ticked the yes I will change supplier although there is of course a cooling off period. I phoned British Gas the next day for the best quote they could give me in my area and it was actually more expensive than my present supplier so I told them that as this time I would Not be changing to them I also phoned my supplier Scottish Power. I got emails saying sorry your leaving so I phoned SP again and was told that is normal and ignore such emails and to add also the procedure will be BG have 3 attempts at contacting SP to try and change/get our consent to change to them. We never gave this consent but nevertheless we where changed over to BG mid Oct and have only recently realised this! We are currently getting apologies and promises only and sometime Mid November all should be resolved appartently.............so much for energyhelpline etc etc. Dianne

Ok have just logged into my EON account to post my latest readings and noticed this
E.ON SaveOnline 4 which is indeed cheaper than my current FixOnline 6, but the FixOnline 6 also mentions a 19.30 % Online Discount making it harder to work out which is the cheapest. Any advise please?

Adding into the confusion is that FixOnline 6 mentions that tesco clubcard are not included but nothing mention in the EON SaveOnline 4, so does that one include tesco clubcard points?

    Hi gocat

We've changed the format of our online tariffs recently.

Previously, we showed the discount for managing your account online as a separate percentage figure. This amount is then deducted from your total charges (before VAT) at the end of the bill.

Now, we include the online management discount in the unit prices.

Fixonline 6 showed the discount separately, whilst Saveonline 4 is included in the prices.

I would pop your usage in kWh on to one of the comparison sites. This will list all the tariffs currently available, both with us and the other suppliers.

Tesco Clubcard points are not available with either Fixonline 6 or Saveonline 4.

Hope this makes things a little clearer gocat. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Thanks Malc. Going by my elementary maths, looks like I might as well stay with fixonline 6 then as getting nearly a 5th off.
But the comparison tables show saveonline 4 as being best for me
